roadtrip music

So, I just made a big ol’ road trip with my kids…and without my husband.  It was about an 11 hour drive, and that’s not including stops for a 2-weeks-potty-trained two-year-old, an overnight stay along the way, or the additional delay for the traffic ticket I got for “failure to switch lanes near an emergency vehicle” on the interstate.  (I knew that applied to police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances in route, but didn’t realize that when there are 3 cops parked in a row on one side of the interstate, and 2 parked on the other, that I should get out of the left lane and move to the right. So, Tifton, GA….this ragged feeling mommy after a full day of driving, does not dub you “Friendliest City” even though that’s what you like to call yourself.)

I’ll tell you what helped along the way though to pass the time….a good old fashioned mix tape.  It wasn’t an actual cassette tape (which would have been gloriously old-school) , but I had a great time on Spotify the day before I left creating a mix of songs that made the time fun.  So I thought I’d share with you my…

I think this would definitely win me over. I was in the middle of giving you some suggestions on FB the other day when you asked, but kid interception, or more like parent interception happened. Hope you’re having a good time!

This is a great list! It’s just a 4 hour drive (relocating) though. Will add some Jack Johnson songs to the list too…

I would also add some from Jack Johnson (Upside Down), Passenger (Let Her Go & Life’s For The Living) or/and Ed Sheeran (U.N.I. and more), for example… Acoustic songs are awesome for road trips… Well, my opinion 😉 xx

I can’t believe you forgot Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. And how you forgot bands like Kansas, Styx, Poison, Boston… jeez… -_-

Thank you so much! I have a bunch of road trips this summer and I have looked all over the internet for good ideas. Most of the ones I have found are either all oldies, all explicit or just all mellow songs. This is a perfect mesh! I’m loving it!
